New iPod Photo announced. 40 & 60Gb versions and for not too shabby a price. Looks good and would be a definite buy if I didn’t have an iPod already. Main issue for me is that Apple’s support of existing users is pretty shabby. I love my iPod but some fairly basic updates wouldn’t have gone amiss - heck - I can’t even play back tracks without any gaps between them. These kind of features should be in as a basic minimum. Good to see battery life quoted at 15 hours though. Don’t know if I would get much mileage out of viewing photo’s on the screen…a more practical screen will probably be found in the next version due in March. I would however love to see the album art while my mp3’s are playing. Very cool. Still…won’t be upgrading. Also odd to see the new U2 special edition iPod more prominent on the Apple website over the new iPod Photo.
Finally, iTunes 4.7 is now available. Probably with updates for new iPods only….hey-ho.
To celebrate the up-coming 100 millionth download from the iTunes store, Apple are giving away a very big prize. That would be lovely. Of course I’ve no chance of winning but that only increases your odds…assuming you buy a track that is.
So, you’ve got the Ipod, ripped thousands of tracks to it and have been using it daily ever since. But what about scratches, chips, dirty marks etc that will happen through a gadgets life? Worry no more. IPod Covers. No…I didn’t order one!
Hopefully a fix to the problem of skipping on the iPod will be with us soon - a dev on the Apple forum has admitted they are aware of the problem and will post an update.
Well, Apple have sold 1 million tracks in the 3 days since the windows version of iTunes was released. Very impressive, but hopefully they will fix a couple of issues with the software. The biggie for me is that iTunes dumps every file mp3 file into one folder on the iPod meaning it skips tracks when trying to seek a file. Other software spreads the tracks through 20 folders to avoid this problem. Apart from this is all works pretty well.
However the increasing amount of mp3’s means I need a new hard disk. 45 gig just isn’t enough anymore, and thats without backup! So I’ve ordered a 120 gig Seagate which will hopefully get here for the weekend. Then its just a case of starting from scratch with Windows. Lovely. An hour to install, probably 2 hours downloading from Windows update. Then I can start to install some software. All legal off course
