Indeed. An old neighbour of ours is a lawyer who represents asylum seekers. He sometimes goes into schools and asks the kids what will happen to them if they get caught spray painting “Tony Blair is an idiot” on a wall. While they’d get into trouble and may have to clean it up, he says they begin to understand what “freedom of speech” means when he explains that in some countries similar actions can get you imprisoned and tortured or killed.
